Louisiana Brown Pelican
Experimenting with a quick
impressionistic rendering
of Louisiana's State bird, the Louisiana Brown Pelican.
The sky and water was applied with wet on wet pigment blended onto canvas, with finger, as I have once painted with oil pastels.

French Quarter Hitching Post
As in most of my most paintings in realism , objects Grab and Beg me to paint them. It all starts when a unique composition of an object framed into my line of of sight will first grab and hold my attention, and asethitcally showcase it's negative space, shadows, reflected light, and highlights.
Does this happen to you too?
A prime example of this is this New Orleans French Quarter hitching post. pressed here. Yet another of many of in- progress paintings.
In this update I just stained -in a few touches to lightest areas.

The Marsh Painting,16 x 20 on canvas
More layers and new work on foreground.
Additional layers to follow and decision as to whether or not to include the egret in this painting, or just start another painting ,
as the storm in this piece has taken over as the focal point.

Louisiana Marsh in the Fall
12 x 12 Linen Canvas Acrylic Paper
Acrylic
Sunlight sparkles across the an open marsh waterway,
behind the silhouette of foreground tree, the inspiration
for this small landscape, depicting a fall scene in a
south Louisiana marsh in early October.
Colors change slowly in the Louisiana Delta fall season.
Green foliage hangs on even through the official start of
the winter season. The possible landscape compositions
are as countless as the Louisiana Cypress trees,
marshes and wildlife.
